Usage Guidelines for the LINE Login Button

1. Definitions

The following words and terms shall have the meanings set forth below when they are used in the Guidelines.

1.1 "LINE" refers to the "LINE" service operated by the Company.

1.2 "LINE Login Button" refers to the function to log in to LINE (buttons, links, etc.).

1.3 "LINE Login Button Image" refers to the image shown below.

1.4 "External Media Outlets" refers to any website, application, packaged media, print media, or other form of media owned and operated by any third party apart from the Company. 

1.5 "Installers" refers to persons installing the LINE Login Button on External Media Outlets.

1.6 "LINE Icon" refers to the icon in the LINE Login Button Image defined in the image below.

1.7 "Login Button Text" refers to the text in the LINE Login Button Image defined in the image below.

1.8 "LINE Icon Speech Bubble" refers to the speech bubble in the LINE Icon defined in the image below. 

 
 

2. Agreement to the Guidelines

The Installer may only install the LINE Login Button or use the LINE Login Button Image if the Installer agrees to the Guidelines. By downloading the LINE Login Button Image or installing the LINE Login Button on External Media Outlets, the Installer is deemed to have agreed to the Guidelines.

3. Retention of Rights

The Company reserves all rights (including but not limited to intellectual property rights such as copyrights, trademarks, patents, etc.) associated with the LINE Login Button and all other aspects related to the LINE Login Button Image.

4. Terms of Use

The Company grants permission to the Installer to install the LINE Login Button and to use the LINE Login Button Image free of charge on the condition that the Installer abides by the following terms of use.

4.1 The LINE Login Button Image may only be used for the purpose of installing the LINE Login Button or as a text link icon. The Installer may not use the LINE Login Button Image for any other purposes other than this. 

4.2 The Installer must use the LINE Login Button Image when installing the LINE Login Button. Additionally, when not placing any text in the Login Button Text area, the Installer must use the LINE Icon of the LINE Login Button Image as the LINE Login Button.

4.3 The Installer may not distort, modify, or alter the LINE Login Button Image. The Company reserves the final judgment on whether distortions, modifications, or alterations have been made.

4.3.1 Modification of the aspect ratio or alteration that will affect legibility or image quality of the LINE Icon.

4.3.2 Alteration of the color scheme. 

4.3.3 Application of a design that causes the Login Button Text in the LINE Login Button Image to be displayed in two lines or more. 

4.3.4 Any other distortions, modifications, or alterations deemed inappropriate by the Company.

4.4. The Installer must maintain the padding around the Login Button Text in the LINE Login Button Image as listed below.

4.4.1 The width of the right and left padding for the Login Button Text must be the same as or wider than that of the LINE Icon Speech Bubble.

4.4.2 The width of the top and bottom padding for the Login Button Text must be half the width of LINE Icon Speech Bubble or wider.

4.5 The Installer must maintain a region of space (hereinafter "the Isolation Zone"）in the area surrounding the LINE Login Button Image in order to protect the image. Other elements may not be placed within the range of this Isolation Zone. The width of the Isolation Zone needs to be the same as or wider than that of the left padding of the LINE Icon Speech Bubble. In addition to maintaining the Isolation Zone, text or graphics that are large or have a strong visual impression should not be placed near the LINE Login Button Image if at all possible.

4.6 The Installer may not use the design or wording listed below with the LINE Login Button. The Company reserves final judgment on whether a design or wording falls under the following.

4.6.1 A design or wording that does not clearly communicate that the button will trigger the login flow for LINE.

4.6.2 Design or wording that contains excessively violent or sexually explicit expressions, expressions that may lead to discrimination based on race, nationality, religion, gender, social status, family status etc., expressions that may induce or encourage suicide, self-harm, and/or drug abuse, or any other anti-social content.

4.6.3 Design or wording that could potentially give the false impression that the Company publicly endorses or supports any External Media Outlets .

4.6.4 Design which uses images similar to the LINE Login Button Image or the LINE Icon.

4.6.5 Design or wording that the Company determines as inappropriate.

4.7 The Installer may not use the LINE Login Button Image for things such as an app icon or part of logo.

4.8 The Installer may not install the LINE Login Button on a website if the design of the website interferes with the readability of the LINE Login Button Image.

4.9 The Installer may not install the LINE Login Button at size or quality level that interferes with the readability of the LINE Login Button Image.

4.10 The Installer may not use the LINE Login Button Image in things such as profile pictures or backgrounds.

4.11 The Installer may not use the LINE Login Button Image to perform such actions as linking or forwarding to another service that bears no relationship to LINE.

4.12 The Installer may not use the LINE Login Button Image in any way that may potentially cause LINE to be confused with or misrepresented as any services, products, or media that are not provided by LINE. 

4.13 The Installer may not display trademarks, logos, icons, or other emblems that are similar to the LINE Login Button Image or the LINE Icon on external sites on which the LINE Login Button Image is installed.

4.14 The Installer may not use the LINE Login Button Image in a way that could potentially give the false impression that the Company publicly endorses or supports any External Media Outlets.

4.15 The Installer may not install the LINE Login Button on External Media Outlets that correspond with any of the items listed below.The Company reserves the final judgment on whether the External Media Outlets fall under the following clauses.

4.15.1 External Media Outlets that includes portrayals of anti-social expressions such as any of the following: excessively violent expressions, sexually explicit expressions, expressions that discriminate based on such things as ethnicity, nationality, faith, sex, social class, or lineage, expressions that induce or encourage actions such as suicide, self-inflicted injury, or drug abuse, and so forth.

4.15.2 External Media Outlets used for purposes of meeting or associating with unacquainted members of the opposite sex.

4.15.3 External Media Outlets used for purposes of illegally obtaining personal and/or private information.

4.15.4 External Media Outlets generally acknowledged as spam which may include any of the following: media lacking content that is associated by affiliation-only, media used for the purpose of leading people to a particular website, web scraping, word salads, and so forth.

4.15.5 External Media Outlets that illegally or contractually infringes upon any of the following rights belonging to the Company or third party: intellectual property rights such as copyrights, trademark rights, and patent rights, the right to protection against defamation, the right to privacy, and so forth.

4.15.6 External Media Outlets that the Company determines as inappropriate.

4.16 When changes are made to the LINE Login Button Image or the LINE Icon and the Installer is requested to update them by the Company, the Installer must immediately update the LINE Icon used for the LINE Login Button, or report the reason if the Installer is unable to do so.

5.  Alteration and Termination of the LINE Login Button Image

The Company may modify part or all of or terminate its provision of the LINE Login Button Image without prior notice at the Company’s own discretion.

6.  The Installer’s Responsibility 

6.1 In the event that the Installer is proven to be using the LINE Login Button Image or installing the LINE Login Button in a manner that contradicts the Guidelines, the Company will be allowed to cause the offending Installer to cease using the Service or the LINE Login Button Image, as well as take any additional measures determined necessary and appropriate by the Company. However, the Company shall bear no responsibility to prevent or correct such infractions.

6.2 In the event that the Company should incur any form of damages either directly or indirectly (including bearing the cost of legal fees) due to some usage of the LINE Login Button Image or the installation of the LINE Login Button (including claims raised by third parties that originate from usage by the Company), the Installer must promptly provide compensation in accordance with the amount requested by the Company.

7.  Nonwarranties and Exemption of Liability

7.1 The Company makes no guarantee either explicitly or implicitly that the LINE Login Button and the LINE Login Button Image are without defect either from a factual or legal perspective (including any flaws, errors, bugs, and rights violations regarding areas such as safety, reliability, accuracy, integrity, effectiveness, compatibility with a particular purpose, security, and so forth.）The Company bears no responsibility to remove such defects when providing the LINE Login Button Image.

7.2 The Company shall bear no responsibility whatsoever in regards to all damages caused to the Installer by use of the LINE Login Button or the LINE Login Button Image.

8.  Modification of the Guidelines

The Company may modify the Guidelines without prior notice and at any time should the Company deem it necessary. The modification will become effective once the modified Guidelines are posted on an appropriate location within the website operated by the Company. The Installer shall be deemed to have agreed to the modified Guidelines by continuing to use the LINE Login Button Image or to install the LINE Login Button after the modification has gone into effect.

9.  Governing Law and Jurisdiction

The Guidelines will be governed by the laws of Japan. Conflicts between the Installer and the Company related to the LINE Login Button or the LINE Login Button Image will be governed primarily under the exclusive jurisdiction of the District Court of Tokyo.
