This Privacy Policy of LINE Plus Corporation (“Company”, “we", "us", or "our") applies to the operations of Uzip Us service that we provide through Uzip Us website and other service channels, if any, related to the Uzip Us (collectively, the "Services").

We consider the protection of personal data to be one of the most important management issues. We will act in compliance with the laws and regulations applicable in Taiwan (such laws and regulations are hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Applicable Laws”), and will make efforts to properly protect personal data based on this Privacy Policy (this “Policy”).

This Policy explains what kind of personal data we will collect, and how we will use and share such personal data, and how you can manage your own personal data.

Your privacy is our priority. Our privacy practices are based on these core principles:

(1) We design our Services with your privacy in mind.
(2) We strive for transparency about how we process your personal data. We work hard to provide clear and straightforward descriptions of our privacy practices because we want you to understand them.
(3) We are dedicated to the protection of your personal data. We continually assess data security risks and test and monitor our security practices to protect against them.

 

1. Our Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the people who are eligible and able to create Service accounts through the verification process on Services (hereinafter referred to as the “Members") and to others who browse the public sections of Services before login their account (hereinafter referred to as the “Visitors”).

WHEN YOU USE ANY OF OUR SERVICES, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT THIS PRIVACY POLICY APPLIES TO THE PROCESSING OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA.

 

2. Personal Data We Collect

We collect information from or about Members for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Of course, we also collect information when we are required to do so by the Applicable Laws.
The following types of personal data are collected in connection with our Services:

 

2a. Personal Data that you provide

Creating an account require you to provide us with your valid email address, which may be your personal email address or an email address issued by the university/college/other equal academic institution you are enrolled in. Other personal data collected through a Member account or use of the Services include:

- School name and the department;
- Admission Date;
- E-mail;
- Gender; and
- Contact Information of inquirers.
: we collect the information when visitors or members contacts us by our online inquiry form including email address and phone number, to help establish the user's identity, for examination into reported problems, and to provide an appropriate response to those inquiries.

 

2b. Information about Your Use

Your Device and activities
:
Some personal data about your devices and activities are collected automatically when you visit the Services. We collect these personal data to analyze and improve the platform, provide our Services, and secure the Services from any unauthorized/fraudulent activities which interfere with normal service operations. Automatically-collected data include:

- Device information: IP or MAC address, device make, model and operating system, App version, OS version, mobile network information, internet service provider, unique device identification number, advertising ID, browser type, and language;
- Location information : geographic location (e.g., country, city-level location or time zone);
- Service usage records and Logs : Cookies, Log-in events (i.e., when you log into and for how long use the Services) and "click stream" data, which are data about how your computer or mobile device interacts with the Services; and
- Interactions with polls, surveys, and other content on the Services.

We may combine this information with other information that we have collected about you.

2c. Personal Data collected from third parties

We may collect Personal Data from third parties including our affiliated entities.

Your LINE user identifier
: Members join using their LINE ID in order to confirm the identity, prevent any unauthorized use of the Services, and to link the Services with your LINE messenger account. Also, LINE ID is required to connect to customer center with written request. The followings will be collected via their LINE account:

- LINE Login: LINE Account Display Name, profile picture, status message and User ID.

- Customer Inquiry: Phone number, LINE email address and automatically collected information such as internal identifier via online inquiry form.

Personal Data collected from affiliated entities
:
We may collect your personal data from our affiliated entities which include LINE Taiwan Limited, (collectively, the “LINE Affiliates”), according to their terms or policies. For the privacy policy that is applicable to the individual services provided by LINE Affiliates, please confirm the same in the individual services.

 

2.d. Personal Data uploaded by other members

There may be cases where a certain member, in using our Services, uploads information containing personal data such as a photo that includes a third party other than that members, and we collect such information.

 

2.e. Collection of Personal Data from public information

We will collect public information, such as online public data or news published on the internet, for use in search services, etc.

If the collected public information contains personal data, we may use such information for registration in the search engine index or display of search results. For example, our Services may display the professor's name, gathered from school public information.

 

2.f. Links on Websites, Devices, Apps and Other Features

Our Services allow you to connect to other websites, devices, applications, and other features that may operate independently of us and have their own privacy notices or policies, and we strongly encourage you to review them. To the extent that any connected website, device, app, or other feature is not owned or controlled by us, we will not be responsible for its content, use, or privacy practices.

 

3. Purpose of Use of Personal Data

In general, we use the data to provide and improve the Services, respond to your requests, and to provide customer service and technical support.

We, as well as LINE Affiliates, use information collected for the following purposes listed below(including what LINE Affiliates use the information collected by us, we shared to LINE Affiliates for the following purposes):

Provision and maintenance of Services
- to verify identity and eligibility for membership;
- to create Members’ accounts;
- to administer sweepstakes (also known as giveaways, draws), contests, polls, surveys, and events in which you choose to participate;
- to aggregate anonymized statistical data regarding the Services;
- to respond effectively to your inquires and claims; and
- to notify any other important information regarding the Services and to contact you if necessary.


Development and improvement of Services and its contents
- to learn how Members interact with the Services so that we can improve the platform and develop new features;
- to provide new future developments and improve the quality and relevance of the Services; and
- to obtain feedback and provide customer service about the platform in general (i.e. satisfaction survey).


Prevention of unauthorized use and compliance with Applicable Laws
- to detect and protect against spam, fraud, abuse, or unauthorized use of the Services;
- to monitor and enforce compliance with our legal agreements; and
- to comply with Applicable Laws or legal obligations.


Provision of contents optimized for you
- to present offers and information that we believe are tailored to the interests of particular categories of you;
- to send information about offers that we think will interest you, including offers that are personalised based on the information associated with that your account; and
- to conduct marketing campaigns and deliver ads for us, LINE Affiliates and third parties such as advertising agencies.

 

4. Sharing Data

We will not provide, disclose, or share your personal data to or with third parties unless we have obtained your consent or such provision, disclosure, or sharing of personal data is permitted and/or required under the Applicable Laws or to protect our rights.

We transfer, disclose or otherwise make available your personal data as described below:

- Visitors to our Services : Visitors to our Services may see course information for each school and other messages including comments and pictures you post in certain areas of the Services, reaction to other reviews and authors' name. Even if you delete your Service account, we will retain that data such as reviews and display name to continue providing our services.
Please note that, such information can be read, collected, or used by other members, and we are not responsible for the information you choose to exchange with other members.

- Service providers: we may transfer or disclose the data we collect to companies and individuals who perform functions on our behalf.

These entities are only authorized to access and use your personal data as they need it to provide their services to us and we ensure that these service providers will handle your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and Applicable Laws.

- LINE Affiliates: we may share, among LINE Affiliates, including companies located in the following countries and regions, the personal data indicated in “2. Personal Data We Collect”. You can confirm LINE Affiliates in “List of Group Companies (also known as affiliates)”. As the purpose of sharing Personal Data is the same as the purpose of use described in “3. Purpose of use of Personal Data”.

- In response to legal process: we may disclose your personal data in order to comply with the law, a judicial proceeding, court order, or other legal process.

- To protect us and others: we may disclose your personal data if we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person, violations of our Terms of Service or this Policy, or as evidence in litigation in which our Services are involved.

- Aggregate and de-identified information: we may also share aggregate or de-identified information about users with third parties for marketing, advertising, research or similar purposes.

- Professional advisors
: lawyers, business consultants, accountants, and information security and forensics experts, etc. as they need the data to provide their services to us.

- Google analytics: we may collect personal data about your online activities on websites and connected devices over time and across other third-party websites, devices, apps, and other online features and services. The data generated by Google’s technology are transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. On behalf of our Services, Google will use this information to evaluate the use of the Services and compile reports for us and third parties that help operate and provide services related to the Services. - Any other third party with your permission or legally permitted: potential or actual acquirers or investors and their professional advisers in connection with any proposed merger, acquisition, or investment in or of all or any part of our business. We will use our best efforts to ensure that the terms of this Privacy Policy apply to personal data after the transaction or that you receive notice of any changes to your personal data processing.

 

5. Transfer of Personal Data Abroad

We are the administrator in sharing personal data under the Applicable Laws. Your use of our Services will involve the transfer, storage, and processing of personal data within and outside your country of residence, in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

- Service providers: in providing our Services, we may store your personal data outside the country or region where you reside. In particular, your personal data will be transferred to Republic of Korea, and Japan.

Some of the data recipients with whom Services shares your personal data may be located in the United States and other countries other than the country in which your personal data was originally collected.

- LINE affiliates: countries and regions to which personal data is transferred to Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia.

By continuing to use the Services, you agree that the Company can transfer your data outside of your country.

 

6. Retention of Personal Data

We take appropriate steps to ensure that we process and store your personal data in accordance with the following principles:

- at least for the duration for which the data was used to provide our Services to you;
- as long as necessary for the purpose for which the data was collected, unless otherwise required by the Applicable Laws;
- as required by law, contract, or in connection with our legal obligations; and
- if we process your data for marketing purposes or based on your consent, we will process such data until you ask us to stop and for a short time thereafter.

 

7. Your Choices Regarding Personal Data

We try to provide, in our Services, features which enable you to personally manage your personal data. Please periodically confirm that no old information or inaccurate information is remaining, and properly update your personal data. For instance, we provide the following features:

- Setting and change of your personal data such as gender, department and admission date.
- Whether to receive marketing message, strongly relevant ads

Where permitted, we may contact you by email, text message, push notifications via mobile applications, and/or by other means. If you are unable to make the correction yourself, to make a request regarding receipt of such communications from us, please contact us using the information specified in the "12. Contact Us" section below.

 

8. Your Rights

As required by the Applicable Laws, you may access or request a copy of the personal data we hold about you which cannot be confirmed directly on the App. You can also ask us to stop the processing of, delete and/or destroy your personal data, correct inaccuracies, restrict the processing of your personal data and withdraw your consent.

If you wish to exercise your right against us, after verification of your identity, we will respond to your request within a reasonable period of time, and in accordance with the Applicable Laws. To make a written request, please contact us using the information specified in the "12. Contact Us" section below.

 

9. Safety Control of Personal Data

We will take strict technical and organizational security measures in managing the collected personal data. In order to continue to improve our protection of personal data, we will review and bolster our internal rules and Applicable Laws in accordance with changes in laws and social norms. However, please note that no website, Internet transmission, computer system, or wireless connection is completely secure, although we have taken reasonable steps to protect your data.

To help protect your privacy and confidentiality of your personal data, we also need your help.

Please do not share your password with others, or use the same passwords you use for other services. Also, referring "12. Contact Us" section below, please notify us in the event you suspect any unauthorized use of your account on Services or any other breach of security.

 

10. Use of third-party modules and Cookies

We may use cookies and third-party software development kit (SDK) for fulfilling the purposes described in this Policy.

10.a. Third-party modules

We may install modules of a third-party SDK in our Services for the following purposes:

- to analyze the status of use of our Services; and
- to distribute ads on our behalf and measure the effectiveness thereof.

With regard to your personal data that is processed by a third-party through a module provided by such third party, the privacy policy of such third party will apply, therefore please review them carefully prior to providing your consent(s).

10.b. Cookie and other analytical tools

We may use such information to comprehend the status of use of our Services or use such information in our Services.

We may modify this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our Services and Applicable Laws, and the latest version of the privacy policy will always be posted on this site. We encourage you to review the contents of the latest version of the privacy policy carefully.

This Privacy Policy was released on January 29, 2024. We will let you know when we make any important changes to our Privacy Policy via the App and/or by other means. You can always access our Privacy Policy directly in the App and on our website. Your continuous use of the Services would be deemed as your acceptance of the changes.

Please note that we will process your request as soon as possible, however, where the concern is complex or we have a large volume of concerns, we will notify you that the concern will take longer to resolve.

This Privacy Policy is made in Chinese and English versions. In case of any discrepancy, the Chinese version shall prevail.
